Dear kindergarten families,
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Halloween snack creating event!!!!!!!!  We made and ate spiders, witches' brooms and apple, peanut butter, marshmallow smiles.  We have been writing about Halloween.  We sorted, counted, graphed and used our data to discover how many flavors of lollipops there are in a large bag of Dum Dum lollipops.  We created a pumpkin for the PTG pumpkin raffle.  “Princess Lollipop” was beautiful!!!!!  She went home with the lucky winner - Calli Sprague.  We have had a busy week counting monsters and ghosts, practicing counting to 20 by ones - not starting at 1.  We have found the missing number in a series of 3 numbers.  The hardest part of numbers for us this week has been recognizing the written numerals.  Looking for numbers at home will help us to become proficient at this.  There are numbers everywhere!!!!!!!  Please focus on 0-20.  In math we are also become more efficient by taking the elevator instead of the stairs!  This means that when counting groups of things (like your fingers) you donít have to count to 5 when you are using the whole hand.  You know that that is 5 or 10 when using both hands.  You just count on!  It's quicker, more efficient.  It's taking the elevator!
We continue to practice letter id, rhyming, letter formation (starting corner, frog jump capitals).  The new letters/sounds this week - L and H.  L lamp and H hat.  Letter formation - N, M.  The words - this, it, no.  The book - This Is.
We are finishing our unit on Shadows.  And we took our weather data and organized it on a graph.  We discovered that there were a lot of rainy days in October!   When we compared the October graph to the September graph we noticed that the days are getting colder and less sunny.
Thursday was our day to lead the all school morning meeting.  Ask your kindergartner to show you the turkey greeting!  There is a new sharing calendar with a sharing focus for this month.  Any questions, please call 875-2330 or e-mail huylers@vermontel.net
Have a restful weekend!

Dear kindergarten families,
NO SCHOOL for students on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great long weekend with your kindergartner.  Read some books, take a walk, have a long conversation, write a story...the possibilities are endless.  Each of your children has the most amazing imagination!  They are becoming thoughtful learners.  They are making connections to their own experiences and the knowledge that they came to school with.  We are almost 100% able to count to 20.  The teens can be tricky.  Please help us to practice this skill.  We have learned the sounds of more than ½ of the alphabet!  We continue to practice handwriting skills.  Having your child practice by copying lists, words, letters…will be a big help.
At the Firemen’s sale I purchased a Playmobile castle.  If anyone has any other pieces or parts that you are ready to part with, we have been loving this new choice.  This week Queen Isabella has been in residence!  (She has been a part of dress-ups as well).
School pictures are in your child’s folder.  Please let us know asap if you will be needing retakes.  That date is next Thursday.
This week the focus for our readalouds has been what happens when you wish to be something other than you and you get your wish!  Ask your child about The Little Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings, You Look Ridiculous, and Edward the Emu.
As you begin to think about Halloween, remember that for the school parade there can be no weapons or blood!
Anyone who would like to help with the creation of our class pumpkin for the PTG raffle, please let me know; 802-875-2330, huylers@vermontel.net, or a note will work.  We will be working on it on Monday the 29th.
        Have a great long weekend!

The teacher information section is under construction...please be patient.  Thank you.
